Tuesday Notes – September 7, 2010

Hannah wrote, “I suffer with depression and anxiety. I find that I have a very low self esteem, and I’m always pushing myself down. I’m very negative and always trying to "fit in". I even go out and buy things to try and make myself feel better! I know it’s not healthy for me and I need to change my ways somehow.  I walk around with a fake smile on my face just to hide it all. But when I read about Operation Beautiful, I thought this could really help me. Everyday, I’m going to post a message on my mirror so I constantly see it all through the day and it keeps entering my mind. Also, I’m going to start posting little messages in public so other women could be a part of this. I think this is a great idea because so many girls that I know in my generation suffer with depression and have such a hard time with life.”

Nancy said, “This is on the mirror in the bathroom in my office building.  A little sunshine makes everything brighter.”

Nancy also posted this one in a changing room.  She said, “Who couldn’t use a pick-me-up when trying on clothes?”

Rachel wrote, “I picked up the Operation Beautiful book from Barnes & Nobles this past weekend in Dallas, Texas! I was in the self-help area shopping for something to pick me up out of this funk I’ve been in lately. I’m so glad I didn’t purchase anything else because this book is EXACTLY what I’ve been needing. I read through 3/4s of it while on the elliptical at the gym yesterday, and I was so inspired.”

Angie wrote, “I work at a doctors office and I posted notes in two different bathroom mirrors. It brightened up everyone’s day, even the patients. It puts a smile on my face to make other people happy. Just one little note builds so much self confidence and I love it.”

Who left the post-it note in Leever? I am the Director of the Counseling Center here and I would love to collaborate with you on programs to promote this concept. Come see me in Leever, first floor.
