Jennifer wrote, “My daughter attends Liberty HS in Frisco, TX. At this school, they have a huge wall of windows that they have recently started calling a "Confession Wall." Students will write down on a piece of paper their struggles, concerns, doubts, self-esteem issues, problems with friends or family, or whatever is on their mind. They leave the notes unsigned and unaddressed and tape it to this wall. When other students read their confessions, they will leave a reply on that note with a sticky note. Teachers do not respond; this is purely peer-based. The wall is covered in notes! The best thing is that every single note is anonymous so students do not have to worry about being judged or teased or whatever by other students. For example, a kid might confess that they feel fat or ugly and do not feel accepted by other girls in the school or that boys ignore them because they don’t look a certain way. A reply may come that says they are beautiful and other will accept you more for being who you are than they will for being someone who is fake. It is a great communication tool that helps build self-confidence and self-esteem.”
