omg this is possibly the best thing that could have happened to international body image. i live in australia and there are even post it notes in the bathroom at our school. WE ARE BEAUTIFUL!
Wow. I’ve recently found 3 notes around my school, and it’s helped me emotionally with what I’m going through. You have touched many lives and this operation beautiful is amazing. This will change the world.
Last night my family and I were at a restaurant eating diner together when my son said he had to use the restroom. While in the bathroom I tried to keep myself from looking in the mirror (it makes me real depressed to see how much weight I’ve gained) but it did not work because while washing my sons hands I noticed something on the mirror it was a sticky note that said “when u smile u light up the world!” it also had this web address. what an AWESOME mission! It instantly made me feel good I can’t wait to participate and tell everyone I know its time we all start looking at ourselves in a positive way.
I so love this! I used to do stuff like this with stickers and graffiti when I was a young punk in the 80s. Now there will be so many more of us spreading the good word!
I’m 51 now, and am shocked to find myself struggling with new areas of self-body-part-hatred as I see signs of my aging. As a radical young punk, I never thought this would happen. The profiteers make tons of dough from our self-hatred, so we gotta keep fighting and loving ourselves, and each other!
I’m so glad someone is putting insparing post it notes on the walls and eveywhere else. At first I thought it was weird but I love it now. My friends are writing notes and putting them on walls and some on people to.
I went to my school today. And my friend asked me to help put up these sticky notes all around school and at the end of the day we had on in each kids locker:)
I am going to start doing this right away! I usually think I’m way too skinny and flat chested, and hated that i couldn’t do anything about it … but I fell great now!
Oh this is really neat! I am going to post some notes in the library books that I have. It’d also be neat to leave one in the Dr.’s office.. I bet they don’t get that very often!

I love this website and this movement so
much! It is so wonderful. I have struggled with anorexia for so
many years and i’ve been to the hospital so
many times I can’t even count any more. The first time I was admitted into th hospital I was 13 years old and weighed only 52 pounds. I was in and out for another year and my family thought I was getting better and so
I went home. 2 months later, i collapsed in the middle of school
from starvation. Back in the hospital, I now weighed 46 pounds and the doctors informed me that if I lost another pound I would be dead.
It was a long, difficult battle. But I am now almost back to normal and I am recovering. There are still days where I wish I could be more “beautiful.” but I saw what you guys are doing with this movement and it helps me.
So thank you!
I had tears in my eyes when I read this. The fact that you’re alive today is incredible, I hope you use your story to help other girls who are struggling with their image, even if you’re still struggling with yours. You’re a strong girl, remember that!
i found one in a book! its funny though because the book was about how people were getting operations to make them beautiful! i thought it was part of the book!
That is funny, yet creative. I’m going to put notes in all my library books when I return them, even “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (I read shakespeare for fun…)
I know im not over weight, but i know that im not thin either. Like most teenage girls, i am compleatly aware that i dont need to be ‘skinny’, but i still want to be. But today at school my best friend–who was suffering with eating dissorders form at least 3 years–came up to me at school today, and for the first time in a long time she seemed, HAPPY. then she asked me to borow my book, so i handed it to her, and she returned it moments later. I was curiouse to what she hade need me book for, ince she only used it for about a minute. So i oppend the book, and inside i found a large purple sticky note, which read. “you ARE beautiful! and no star shes brighter that your smile.” I was confiused by the stickey note, so she explained to me what opperation beautifull was. Shortly after we ran into the girls wash room, and wrote at least 36 notes, and we placed one in ever stale of every washroom, then snuck into all of the class room doors. My english teacher was especialy impressed with the diffrance we hade mad in just one day, so she asked my friend and i if we would like to start a ‘opperation beautiful’ club at school.
My friend and i hung arround after school, and brained stormed about what we were going to discusess during the club–my friend had always been the kind of person that didnt like to share herr feelings so i was shcked when i heard her sugestion. she said “First i would like to tell all of the girls who are attending about how ‘opperation Beautifull has changed MY LIFE, for the better”.
And seeing how this website has change even ONE persons life for the better, that this is a TRUE accomplishment!!
This is so amazing.. It’s empowering to see people spread smiles to the world.. ^__^ I want to help make someone’s day brighter.. This is such an awesome idea.. Every time my family goes out to eat I draw a picture on a napkin for our waiter/waitress, and from now on I am going to add “Smile because you are beautiful!.”
When i finished work last night i walked past 2 shops wondows with pink post-it notes saying “You are beautiful” and “You are loved” with the website underneath – And i live in Cairns, Queensland, Australia, I love this idea!
This is a very encouraging yet simple thing to do to help ourselves and others. I just found out about this from Facebook and I think it’s the most amazing idea ever! I love leaving little post-it notes for my boyfriend while I’m out of the house for him to find when he gets home and I know he likes to get them I think that finding one of those randomly would be just what anyone needs to keep they’re head up high and help put a smile on they’re face. I plan to start making my notes right now!
i love this website, it has let me know that i AM beautiful even if i might not be the prettiest on earth, i am ME. i am BEAUTIFUL. and nobody can tell me otherwise. (: thank you SOO much for letting me know the true meaning of “beautiful”
These videos almost made me cry! How so many people are turning frowns upside down! I will make post-it notes with things right now, and later today or tomarrow when we go out, post them any where! I mean any where!

i first saw a note like these in my school bathroom. i was having such a bad day and more and more just kept piling on. i walked in and on the mirror i saw that note. i smiled so much and though ididnt know who wrote it i was still so happy. this website is great!
I’ve had this in my drafts for-ever and am posting on my blog Friday — one of the videos. This reminds me of The Dressing Room Project, which made/makes cards for this purpose. (http://leisahammett.typepad.com/the_journey_with_grace/2009/09/you-are-beautiful.html) One suggestion…can I make one? Is that you ask people to put the web address on there if they feel led. This might help someone learn more and also spread the word…including someone who didn’t previously know they were beautiful. ?? Thank you. This is beautiful & so are you!!!
I just wanted to say how uplifting this project is, not only to me, but to millions of other girls struggling with body image. As soon as I saw this video, me and my friends ran around the school posting notes in every bathroom and on drinking fountains. It made my day!
~Thanks so much~
–I was wondering what the song is called that is playing in the first video–
Hey, great job. This is awesome. But…what about the guys? This movement seems to be mostly target at women, but there are plenty of men and boys who themselves struggle with body image and self esteem. Shouldn’t we try to get the messages to the guys too?
the site was originally created for women but we have men participate ALL the time! i love to receive notes from men and would love it if you send me some!
I think this is so wonderful! I have yet to see a note but that will change I don’t think there is many in Alberta, but im totally buying post-its tommorow and putting them everywhere i go So inspirational. I Love It. BTW for people who are reading this, You Are Beautiful In Gods Eyes, and In Mine
Love You All

wow. This is amazing!!! I just found my first post it note the other day at the library with the book i checked out and i decided that i am going to start posting notes. this is kool how this works with the post it notes and the notes people leave!!!! thank you to everyone behind operation beautiful!!!! this helps a lot!!
I saw a note in my YMCA’s shower rooms and immediately came here! I believe that you don’t need to have hourglass figures or voluptuous curves to be beautiful. God made you, and there can never be a more beautiful you. You were made with a purpose that only you can fulfill, and that’s what makes everyday worth living. Dark hair, light hair, blue eyes or brown, tan skin or porcelain, beauty shines in each and everyone one of us. Never forget that.
God Bless,
Dianne M.

I’m starting school next week, and I know a lot of people who look badly at their image. So, I’m making notes right now as I’m typing this to post around my school. (:
We are all beautiful in our own way. God didnt make us to be all the same he made to be us. Beautiful inside and out. So to all of you your all beautiful and gourgous.
Omg I love this. A few months ago at school I saw these kind of sticky notes covering the bathrrom, but never really payed attention. I just stumbled across this website and think it is such a great idea. Im recovering from anorexia and I KNOW these notes can make such a difference in the lives of girls. I’m definately gonna start doing this!
i saw three of four of these sticky notes on a Ferry boat on my way to Seattle with the web address on it, and now i bring a pack of light blue sticky notes and a pen with me where ever i go.
This is great I found like 2 notes at a mall today! That helped me out a lot since I got dumped a week ago. This mission is changing peoples minds keep it up!
I love it! I am a professional mural artist and if someone would be willing to donate a wall somewhere in the Hickory, NC or Charlotte area, I am willing to donate a mural. Let’s paint a giant post-it note with a message on it!!!
When I was in high school, I went into the bathroom because I was seriously close to a mental breakdown. I was dealing with a ton of new stuff, and I was this close to crying.
I looked over at the wall and it read “You are beautiful. Sometimes you need to be reminded.” I cried, but for another reason.
I don’t think anyone really realizes how effect small actions and words actually have.
On wednesday which is tomorrow really, im bringing a pen and sticky notes to school and to the store.. girls need to know that they are loved and are beautiful and they need to know that they are enough.. i am one the girls out there that are bigger and to be honest i have wanted to be thin but i dont care anymore. I AM BEAUTIFUL!! I AM GOOD ENOUGH!! i have a boyfriend who is 3 months older, and he is thin and he is in sports, hes a jock, yet he loves me and tells me in beautiful everyday. i love him for being one of the guys who are jerks to girls. I LOVE YOU CHRIS!! and girls.. YOU ARE AMAZING, YOUR BEAUTIFUL, YOU ARE ENOUGH!!!!

I love what everyone is doing. I think it’s about time someone make a website like ths! And good song by the way!
I know how you feel gurl. I feel the same way.
i am honestly going to start doing this. it could save so many people from being bulimic, and anorexic! this is an amazing idea. so inspiring(:
Where else can I post notes other than bathrooms and books?
in movie theaters, on lampposts, on mailboxes, on the sidewalk in chalk, in the grocery store, in the gym, everywhere!
Okay! I’ll try it.
seashells,dollar bills,magazines,cars[(?)not sure about that one],lockers,etc. (:

I post them all over our parks, school bathrooms, ect. This is officially my new favorite website:)
Just last night our middle school girls group at church had a lock in and we wrote up a hundred sticky notes to post around places this summer!!!
