Alicia, who is Miss Maryland United America 2009, mentors girls at her church. They posted these notes together:
Alex wrote, “My friends and I are in the 12th grade at a school in Paris, France and we constantly are writing Opreration Beautiful notes in French and leaving them in the streets. I think the most fun I had all year was running down the metro putting up sticky notes that said "Rappelez-vous, vous êtes magnifique!" We were stopped by so many people who asked us what they were or thanked us for putting them up. Operation Beautiful makes me feel great about myself not only when I see one on the street, but also when I put them up and see someone smile.”
Laura wrote in to say, “I started a doctoral program in August, and, one day, when I was using the restroom on campus near where I park my bike, I saw a post-it on the mirror that said "Your are beautiful… operationbeautiful.com." I thought, that’s nice, everyone can use a little positive reinforcement. I decided to post my own note!”
Leeinz wrote, “I found a note in the girls restroom, on the second floor of building 1P at the College of Staten Island. Having had a terrible morning complete with a fight with my mother and a psychology exam. Seeing those words made my day.”
Stephanie wrote, “I have 4 house-mates, and we only have on bathroom, so everyone looks at this mirror everyday. I figured it would be a good place to put an encouraging word! It’s a good reminder for myself too.”
If you love Operation Beautiful and want to participate, post a note, take a picture, and e-mail it to Caitlin at seebriderun@gmail.com. Spread the love – you are beautiful, too!
