Send your own Operation Beautiful Note to Caitlin at OperationBeautiful@gmail.com, and it will be posted on the site. If you have a blog, be sure to include a link!  It takes about three weeks for a photograph to show up on the site, so be patient! :)

Write a motivating note on a post it and put it up in a public place– such as on a bathroom mirror, in the gym locker room, or even on a random car’s windshield.  If you want, you can write the web address www.OperationBeautiful.com on the bottom so other women can find the site!

we live in a world where the idea of beauty is twisted.
Everyone has beauty. we are are all beautiful and no one can take that away.
weather your a size 2 or a size 22 weather your skin is pale or dark weather our tall or short as you are beautiful.
and another thing. happiness is beauty itself (:

Hi Caitlin,
I love your concept and have been trying to tell myself that for many years.
Unlike you I am not young- 55 years old and try like heck to keep up with
myself, but, somedays I feel like I am losing the battle.
That aside, I am starting a womens clothing website that will be launching
in Sept. My idea is to offer clothing that will enhance all types of body shapes and make woman feel good about themselves.
I saw you on the today show and thought- wow, that is perfect on my website. It would be great to have a heart on the home page that says
“You are beautifull”. Also, with your permission, I would love put a little
heart soap into every order that is placed- again with the same saying on it.
If you would allow me to do this, I would love to tell your story and give you
credit for the beauty of it.
Thank you for making the world a better place- I see you have a beautiful
soul to go with your beautiful outside.

I am in high school, and i have an uncle who lives nearby, with my aunt, their son, and two daughters. he works hard to keep himself, and the rest of his family, in shape, which is great. their family is not overweight, and very good athletes. but i dont think he realizes that when he talks about not just staying in shape, but losing weight, it can have negative effects, espically on his daughters, who are 11 and 12. the other day, in the car, i was talking about how hard soccer practice has been, and he asked me if i knew how much weight i had lost from playing. i dont consider myself to be overweight, nor do i consider myself to be completly skinny. but still, i was completly taken aback. does it matter that i lose weight, so long as i am healthy? he constantly talks about being skinny, and i worry that my little cousins could have problems with self esteem, espically because they are just becoming teenagers. any tips on how to help them deal with staying positive? im not comfortable talking to my uncle directly, but is there anything i can say to them, other then just, your beautiful, no matter what?
thank you so much!!

just try to talk to your cousins privately about how YOU feel about being active and eating healthy… how you do it to be strong and not just thin. maybe discuss with them negative messages in the media, like photoshopped magazine covers, and help them understand what’s really important. you can definitely make them see things in a new light!

I’ve learned that it’s not about being a size 2 or size 10. I’m going off to college in less than a month and STILL worrying about my size. However, I think that this summer has really taught me to just let go more and live life happily. Read, hang out with genuine people, sing loudly, dance crazy, and eat right. I’ve learned that it’s also not about depriving yourself of every single “fattening” food there is out there. I think- really- that it’s about just loving you for who you are. The simple yet gorgeous fact that we are women. Our bodies can give life, we love and nurture, we are beautiful creatures. So, why hate your body or yourself? Just have fun being you and be the best you that you can be. Exercise and eat right because you deserve to have great health as a human being. Take care of the beautiful body that you have. And most importantly, appreciate it. Because without this beautiful body, we wouldn’t have the wonderful gift of life.

Your beautiful and had the website on the bottom of the sticky note so I decided to check it out! I must say that it was a weird place to put it but it deffinately made me smile!!

I tried leaving a message last night, but am still learning to use my blackberry and I dont see it here….so gonna leave it again! ;-)

I just wanted to say that I love this idea. I found you from a magazine article….and I am in love with this.

One thing I wanted to point out, is that its not just “fat talk” that we can combat with this. I struggle with anxiety and what my doctor says is depression, I just say I am overwhelmed with life sometimes! ;) These compliments are a reminder that I am not my illness, and that I am so much more. Things like you are beautiful inside and out….reminds me that even though I am struggling so much on the inside, I am still a remarkably beautiful person.

I will be buying Post Its in stock for this “movement”. (Glad I found out about you before school started, I can stock up CHEAP!) LOL

Thank you again,
Blessings to you!

I’m only 10 and already, this is happening in my grade. My best friend will tell me that she is FAT. I’ll say, no. No you are not fat. You are beautiful. And she’ll argue. Once she went on a diet for almost a year. I was so sad! So many people stress over their weight. But all of them are beautiful people. But I was on a computer game called moshimonsters.com and I was on the kid-safe forums. A person named forksbellamarieswan came to a discussion and started telling us we were ugly and that she was beautiful and SO much better looking than all of us. I was so hurt. So hurt. But I didn’t show it. I helped those who reacted. I told them that they were gorgeous people who shouldn’t pay attention to such a comment. Then, yesterday I stumbled upon this website. i loved the idea and I am starting to leave post-its everywhere. thank you so much for the inspiration!

Absolutely! :] It really is true. “In our own way”…people seem to take that for granted. We have to realize that our own beauty is unlike anyone else’s, and because some of us are similar, we are by no means even close to being the same as anyone else on this planet, whether it’s looks, personality, mind, ideas, purpose, the list goes on. Find beauty in others, but never compare your beauty to theirs! You are incomparable! :]

Thank you for this! I just bought your book today and I am going to start post-iting away when I get back to Quinnipiac University. I was one of those girls who struggled with an eating disorder, depression, anxiety etc. I started dieting in the 3rd grade because I was overweight. I come from a very wealthy, image-conscious, and materialistic town (my family was so far from that). Eventually it got to the point where I was at a dangerously low weight. I don’t think I fully shook anorexia until the end of High School. But during high school I took on the habit of cutting. I hated everything about myself including my frizzy curly hair (which I now love) and my skin condition all over my body (one thing i still can’t accept but I’m working on it!). I won’t lie and say that I don’t have bad days. The thing about these bad days is that I KNOW they will not last. I fight everyday with a positive attitude to never ever go down that road of misery. I am, for once in my life, healthy and at the average ratio for my height and weight. I am not a size 0 or 2 anymore; I was not meant to be that. I have muscle. I am strong. I’m on a dance team. I’m in a sorority. I have a 3.9 GPA. I have an amazing boyfriend and am in a healthy relationship for once in my life. I’ve never been happier in my life! I am 21 years old and the first time I went public about my struggles was in front of around 85 girls in my sorority last year. I gave a presentation about my story and even shared my darkest hours when I wanted to end my life. I wanted to share my story to help others. If I can prevent one person from going down that road, everything I went through will be worth it. I hope one day I can continue to share my story and help others like you do Caitlyn. I want to be a teacher and I want to teach my students more than just the material. I want to teach them confidence and self-acceptance. You are my inspiration and amazing!!!

Love always,
D.

Caitlin,

I just wanted to share with you how excited I am to have found your site and discovered your mission. I am part of an exciting new website for women http://www.newjane.com and our theme for the month of August is to focus on body image issues. We were all charged with the task of blogging about body image and the topics all seem to have headed in the direction of how to turn around our own negativity and “fat talk”. We are all (admittedly) intelligent women, but it would seem that our positive talk has been drowned out and the beautiful inner voices that we all know exist have been lost. As the mom of a young daughter, I tell her everyday that she is my beautiful princess, but I have somehow lost the ability to speak to myself in the same way. I now plan on sharing these thoughts in an upcoming blog of my own and passing on your message… maybe even offering one of your books as a prize ;-) Thank you for the incredible gift of inspiration. You are beautiful… and so am I.

Too many people don’t love themselves – including me. And it seems like so many people are successful due to their beauty or perfect body and such. But nobody really seems to think of how unfair it is that the media is controlling our opinions on beauty. We were all born with different opinions. That’s one way we’re unique, yet we allow someone else with a make-up team and a computer editor to narrow our view on beauty. It’s okay to see the glossy photos in magazines as beautiful. They are, but they also aren’t very realistic, and they aren’t the only form of beauty on this planet. Words are beautiful. Flowers are beautiful. Lipstick is beautiful. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. Your eyes, your skin, your hair…your love for animals, your ability to write beautiful music, your ability to understand others. Oh there are so many things, some you haven;t even discovered in yourself yet! Love yourself. Love yourself unconditionally. Don’t be shy to do so. Ignore those who put you down – you really don’t have time for them. Get up, walk to a mirror, and tell that wonderful, beautiful person, “I love you”. Those words are words you deserve to hear from #1 – yourself. :]

We think this is such a great idea! Today’s media makes girls feel like they need to become somebody different because they show models and actors that are unreasonable sizes. Girls should be comfortable in thier own skin and should accept who they really are. Beautiful comes in every shape and size.

Being a girl of 14 usually comes with alot of pressure you always have to be the right size, have the right clothes, and be perfect in every way or so I thought. When I saw an article for this in FIRST magazine I was amazed that this whole movement had been going on and I didn’t even know it! After reading this and seeing the website I decided that I’m beautiful the way I am and I want to tell every other girl out there that same message. I can’t wait for school to get back in or even to go to the grocery store with my pen and sticky notes and tell the world or at least the people in my city this message!!! :)

I haven’t seen any post it notes where I live and it makes me assume that no one is doing this here. I would like to participate and include my small town in SC in operation beautiful. Maybe I can change some young peoples thoughts so they can feel better about themselves as a teen, so they can be confident enough to chase their dreams and have a happy life :) Because, after all, that’s what it’s about!

This is a wonderful idea! For so much of my life I’ve despised my appearance and felt I was never enough for what the world expected me me to be. It’s a daily struggle for me, and I think so many of us as women feel this way to some degree because the standard for what “beautiful” is seems so unreachable.
