Send your own Operation Beautiful Note to Caitlin at seebriderun@gmail.com, and it will be posted on the site. If you have a blog, be sure to include a link!  It takes about three weeks for a photograph to show up on the site, so be patient! :)

Write a motivating note on a post it and put it up in a public place– such as on a bathroom mirror, in the gym locker room, or even on a random car’s windshield.  If you want, you can write the web address www.OperationBeautiful.com on the bottom so other women can find the site!

I just officially made a school group/club type of thing and it has alot to do with this. Like feeling totally out of place because of people teasing you and not having friends and not being cool enough. So as of today Im just gunna try to set a good example for my Youth Group…

Its really inspiring((:

wow! this is such a great idea!
im going to post them around my school (australia) and i hope others will catch on and do the same.
im writing some out right now :)
i always tell people theyre beautiful, but they dont believe me…
just like when people tell me, i dont believe them..
we all need a bit of positive reinforcement on those bad days and need to feel special, because we all are.

I live in Australia, and people posted them around my school, and I thought it was a really good idea :) So my friend and I are going to do the same thing.

The idea its self is beautiful, and you can be sure that my whole town will be covered in post-its. I thank anyone and everyone involved with this. You brilliant individuals filled with nothing but optimism are the real ones that’ll change this world. x

I really love this idea, and I’m going to start doing this and try to get my friends to do it too(:
I think its amazing that people are doing this to make women feel good about themselves, and it changes how I look at myself too.
Thanks(:

I love the idea you have for this website. It really cheered me up for a little bit at least. I’m recovering from an eating disorder and sometimes I really do get depressed over how ugly I think I am. But this website helped! :)

It’s really good to know that you feel more positive. you are beautiful and there will always be people there to remind you. :-) don’t be depressed because of something your not doll.

I was having a pretty crappy week feeling bad about myself but today at school I went into the bathroom and as I washed my hands I looked up at the mirror and saw this post-it note and I couldn’t help but smile. I’ve been having a good day ever since. This is a really good movement. So many girls out there feel horrible about themselves because of society this is a way to show them that no matter what anyone says they are all still beautiful in their own way! :-D

Joanna February 5, 2010 at 5:00 am

I am definitely going to do this :)

After trying on several pairs of jeans this morning before class (and then opting for yoga pants)….I came across a post-it note in the bathroom stall I was using on my campus. Thanks Caitlin for being so inspirational and positive…and thanks for the girl who left the note behind….it really made my day! I’ll be sure to pay it forward. :-)

Stay Beautiful!

I checked out a book from the local library, and i flipped to a page and there was this index card that said “You are beautiful, don’t let anyone tell you differently.” It was the most confidence boosting thing ever.

This site is amazing.

i didnt know this was a site, and i cant believe it…but today, without any of my class mates knowing…i wrote out 116 post it notes saying “you’re beautiful” and put them on their lockers before school. It was the topic on everyones mind all day as too who did it, but i wont speak a word. All i say when they ask me is “why find an answer? why not just accept that someone here finds everyone as beautiful as the other, this is one of those random acts of kindness to make you feel good, embrace it!”
they smile and agree, but i really hope they take it in.
Now i know this is an actual site, i will continue on this mission.
thankyou.

I heard about this at my university’s Queers and Allies meeting tonight. And when they started discussing it I couldn’t WAIT to attack everywhere with a post-it! My girlfriend has a VERY low self esteem and quite frankly I do too, just not as much… When out president of QandA started talking about it I thought of her and how much I hate her thinking she’s not perfect… and I’m sure that happens with many people that are indeed beautiful. So I can’t wait to cover walls and mirrors in post-its (thought I think I’ll change it to handsome when it comes to the bathroom).

=)

Amanda March 8, 2010 at 1:20 am

hey, just saying that I am so not comfortable with my body either, and my boyfriend says the same things. hes always saying that he hates knowing that i think im less than perfect and he always tries to make me happy by sayin “hey beautiful” or “hey perfect” and maybe you should try that with your girlfriend caus i know it makes me feel better.

Julia February 14, 2010 at 5:16 am

Reply

my friend and i found this website and we have been leaving sticky notes all over the place.
we put them in the stores we go in bcuz we believe that girls need to feel good about themselves even when someone tells them they aren’t beautiful or that they wont succeed when in reality they will. thank you for caring about all of us, it really means a lot :D

i believe that this is truely insperational, im not a small girl at all ik a size 14-16 in australia. which is curvy. and i have a bit of weight on me and i dont care i fell into a deep depressing spiral and my finacee brought me out of it. and my educational officer showed me this site and i come on everyday before school. ahnd after school and i post notes everywhere in the bathrooms, on computer screens i hoestly believe all you do is need one person to start something massive and change the world and that is what you have done caitlin. you should be very proud of ho many girls u have helped and how many girls you inspire everyday. I just hope this message reaches every girl before they do somethig stupid or create an eating disorder in themselves. It’s not to late we can do it. all we do is need to believe in outselves :)
peace out girls stay beautiful smart and strong. and you will get everywhere you need to get :) <3

The more you tell yourself you are “ugly”, the more “ugly” you will appear to others. So have a good attitude, that has a lot to do with the way people think you look. If you always have a confident smile on your face, you will always be beautiful. YOU are the only one who can change your mind, don’t let others fool you. (:

Reply

admin February 17, 2010 at 9:32 pm

i would love to make it more blind friendly, but how would writing out the notes make it so? let me know!

Reply

Madeline April 8, 2010 at 5:56 am

There are computer programs for the blind that read text aloud, but since all the post-it notes are images rather than text, any blind person visiting your site will be able to find out what Operation Beautiful is, but unable to read any of the notes themselves! The solution to this would be to caption each image with the text of the post-it. Hope that helps!

I’d never heard of this before, until…
Our school had a choir festival yesterday, and one of the other schools left a bunch of Operation Beautiful stickynotes for us on the mirrors in our bathroom.
This is a wonderful thing you started, Caitlin.
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! <3

Reply

Kelsey February 18, 2010 at 12:13 pm

I first saw a ton of sticky notes when i was a at a choir festival. When i saw them from far away,i was expecting them to be rude comments or something like that. When I read all the positive things, it really changed my perspective on life and now, a bunch of girls at my school and I are doing an Operation Beautiful day on March 14. We are telling as many people as we can to write at least one note and post it around school before first bell rings. We want to have so many up that people wont even bother trying to take them down. I want to help spread this amazing thing, so i am inviting everyone who reads this to make March 14 Operation Beautiful day. It only takes one note to change a persons life <3

I think this is a fantastic idea! Very inspired. It’s great just to get kind words from strangers. And no one should ever feel self-hatred, because of other people or otherwise. However, I think you should rethink your slogan, Caitlin. Yes, you are beautiful just the way you are, but you should always strive to improve yourself. My personal body image issue is that I’m really weak, no muscle mass to speak of. And I know I’m beautiful, and I’m happy with who I am, but I also know that I can be better and that the way to do that is to get to the gym, work hard, and build up my little chicken wings! =D So, maybe your message should still carry the wonderful truth that we are beautiful as we are, but that we can always and should always work to be even better!

I read these post-it notes in the toilets and uni and it made me feel better in myself and brought a smile to my face knowing that there are people making the effort to help women feel good about themselves. After reading that note i looked in the mirror differently and was happy with what i saw. great idea :)

A little more than a week ago I was at Target getting some Valentine’s Day candy for my friends and I saw this overweight girl walk over and look at an extended size Valentine’s day shirt. She looked at it really sad and then walked away so I decided to put a post-it note on that extended size Valentine’s Day shirt. So I posted the note and I stayed in that section and then I saw the same girl go to that same shirt later and she saw the note, smiled, took the note and the shirt, and bought the shirt. That absoulutly made my day!

At school today, I saw a sticky note on the bathroom mirror that said, “Always smile, for you never know who might be falling in love with it! http://www.operationbeautiful.com.” It made me smile myself, so I checked out this site when I got home after school and I saw the video on here. It was shocking for me to see that there are more eating disorder cases in the US than breast cancer cases! My friend is anorexic, so I’ll show her this site. Thanks for what you do!

I’ve been overweight since I was a little girl. My doctor has always told me there’s something wrong with me. I’ve went to numerous doctors since I was about 12 to get this all fixed. When I was about 10 my doctor diagnosed me with a thyroid problem. Turned out, nothing was wrong with my thyroid. Then another doctor said my tongue was in-larged. That has to do with weight? When I was a child, I was always teased in school. Last year, my freshmen year of high school, it all stopped. I had a much different attitude then I do this year. I’ve been teased, some, this year but not much at all. Then in early February 2010, I found http://www.operationbeautiful.com from a friend of mine. Since then, I’ve been positive that I’m beautiful and if nobody likes that then I should just shake them off. Remember your always beautiful no matter what. Your God’s creation. Sometimes I think, “Why did he do this to me?” But in reality it’s the way he created me. [;

Thank you so much for your idea Catlin and thank you to however left those notes in the bathroom. I was in debenhams in portsmouth uk yesterday looking at the urban decay stand. I saw a post it note saying your are beautiful and then the website at the bottom. I thought it was amazing and really want to get involved.
It really made me think, i don’t actually need any of this expensive makeup, I spend so much money on cosmetics, hair stuff and perfumes and for what? to conform to what is expected of me in our patriarchal society.
I think this campaign is amazing, women supporting other women, so we all feel better about ourselves and each other. I will definitely get involved!
