Saturday Notes – December 12, 2009

Myra wrote, “I’m going to put post-its and little origami stars with ‘you are beautiful’ written on the inside all over the place at my middle school, on windows and walls and lots other places.  Thanks for inspiring me, Operation Beautiful! Now, I will go out of my way to make the world a better place.”

Lauren wrote, “One day, a friend told me about Operation Beautiful. She said she found a note in one of our school’s bathrooms. I was highly intrigued and thought it sounded inspiring, so I put a reminder in my phone, and as soon as I got home I looked it up! I found the project to be absolutely incredible, so I made a BUNCH of notes that night. I posted a couple the next day, and then as I walked by a bathroom in one of our locker rooms, I noticed something on the mirror.  Of course I wanted to stop to see what it was, just being nosy…but it was an Operation Beautiful note!! It made me really happy and excited. I love posting them, it feels so wonderful.

Kate wrote, “I’m on my way to my weekly doctor’s appointment and I’m going to put a note somewhere.  Hopefully, it will make another patient’s day a lot better!”

Mary Kate wrote, “After going seeing all the notes on Operation Beautiful, I felt inspired. The other day, our religion teacher passed out cans of food and encouraged us to drop them in the bin by the front door for the food pantry. I did…but not before writing "Smile! You are Beautiful" on the can. I felt great the rest of the day!”

Paige sent in this note:

youre beautiful

Men love Operation Beautiful, too! Donovan wrote, “I know that Operation Beautiful is for women and such, but honestly men face a lot of the same issues.  I myself really disliked felt bad about myself for a while, but I actually learned to like it. I never really thought I was cute or anything, and my friends continuously denied it and kept telling me otherwise.  I never believed them and kept telling myself I wasn’t beautiful.  Until I found Operation Beautiful. I stayed up til’ 2am one night reading every single post of it.  It gave me hope that no matter what I look like, no matter what I act like, that people will like me for me.    It make me think that I don’t have to change myself to get people to like me.”

Jenn wrote, “Over Thanksgiving, I told my cousins about Operation Beautiful and they both thought it was such a great idea and said they would probably start to get involved. I made sure to put up at least one note at every bathroom I stopped at over the weekend so that everyone could have a better holiday.”
