Saturday Notes – August 29, 2009

Raia wrote, “My friend first told me about Operation Beautiful, and I remembered it the night before I went on vacation and wrote some messages down.  I wrote down more during the long car ride. My sister saw and I explained what I was doing. She thought it was a cool idea too, and said she’d want to write some when we got to our hotel.  We posted them around the hotel, on a ketchup bottle at a bar/restaurant, and in bathroom stalls at Disneyland, where a lot of young girls are. I posted one yesterday in a fitting room and on a Macy’s bathroom mirror. A lot of women came in after that, and I felt a lot better because I knew that all of them would see the note, especially the 2 young friends going in!”

Jessica wrote, “I have been posting Operation Beautiful notes for about a month now, and my fiance has been there a few times when I’ve posted them (i.e. in the ladies room at the movies Friday night).  I was having an absolutely terrible day today, and was not feeling that great about myself.  I went to go to the bathroom before we sat down to eat dinner, and I saw that my fiance had posted a note for me on the bathroom mirror.  I started started crying immediately.  He not only reminded me how beautiful I am, but why I am marrying him!”

Jessie said, “I opened up an eating disorder recovery book at Barnes and Nobles today and found a pro-recovery post it in it. I picked up the next book and sure enough they all had post-its! First time I ever heard of this website. It was so cute!”

Emma said, “I recently used one of the electronic notes from the site and tagged every girl in my friends list on Facebook. And one of them commented and said “so are YOU!”.  That brightened my day so much, it just goes to show sometimes we need to be reminded that we are beautiful!”

C wrote, “Today I read an article in my cities newspaper about Operation Beautiful, and it made me think about a post-it note I saw on a light pole while I was on vacation in San Francisco. The post-it note said “you are beautiful.” The smallest of words brightened my entire day and vacation. So to who ever put that sticky note on that pole, thank you and you lift my spirits whenever I look at that picture.
