New Year’s Day Notes – January 1, 2010

by Caitlin on January 1, 2010

Regular, full-length posting will resume on January 6 – the editor of Operation Beautiful, Caitlin, is currently on vacation.  :)   Here are three great notes to enjoy in the meantime.

Coral wrote, “I was in the girls toilets at Sutton Market in Nottinghamshire and found this on the door … it’s funny because a few weeks ago I’d been on the website of Operation Beautiful and loved it, I thought, I’ll never see one of these notes around where I live, but I was shocked to find it and put it into my journal! It made my day so much. I’m going to post some when I go into town tomorrow in fact.”

Amanda wrote, “I recently became unemployed and found myself searching for jobs again. In the meantime, I’ve decided to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher and started going back to school to get my teaching credential. While I’d love to focus primarily on school, it’s been tough living on just my husband’s income. I started looking for part-time jobs and found myself applying at a job that I really didn’t want or like. I simply applied because I didn’t think I could get a better job. I was merely settling for what I thought I deserved. Today at the job interview, the person interviewing me asked why I was applying for part-time work instead of a full-time position. I explained that I was going back to school to become a teacher and she laughed at me. “You’re just wasting your time.” She said. I couldn’t believe someone would say that to me! Of course, I finished the interview and left as politely as I could but when I got home, I started thinking about the message Operation Beautiful sends. Aren’t I enough? Why would I let that woman insult my dreams like that? Why would I apply for a job that would literally suck the life out of me? I decided to write myself these notes to remind myself that I am worth it, I will find a job that fulfills me and that I will achieve my dreams. “023

The stories on here are so uplifting and inspiring. I wish every girl could read this. Then maybe we wouldnt have so many girls die to eating disorders…

I love the quotes from famous people, like Eleanor Roosevelt. I will be on the lookout for some good ones to post myself.
