Monday Notes – July 13, 2009

by Caitlin on July 13, 2009

A Message from Caitlin:  Good morning! Mondays are always the day when people need a little extra love.  So, be sure to post a note, take a picture, and send it to Caitlin at seebriderun@gmail.com!

"Where in the USA is Monica?"  Monica from Run, Eat, Repeat is taking a cross-country tour!  She is driving from California to Maryland from July 10 to July 17, and along the way, she will be spreading the Operation Beautiful love!  On Sunday, she hinted that she is "moving away from the ocean, but not the water!" and the next stop was once a winter Olympics site.   If you guess Monica was in Salt Lake City, Utah — you were right!

Monica said, "In addition to the gas station bathrooms (I am getting way too familiar with them) I found some new locations for these great little notes…
One, I put on top of a map in downtown Salt Lake. I put it on right when we got here and it was still up when I ran past it the next morning! :)   I also put notes on parking meters!"

Here are the hints for the next "Where in the USA is Monica?" stop.  Can you guess where she is headed?

1.       We can thank Theodore Roosevelt for recognizing the beauty of this land
2.       I am very Faithful to getting Operation Beautiful’s message to this place

And here are the rest of today’s notes!

Susan said, "I am a wedding photographer and took this image at the salon where the bride, Kim, was getting ready on her wedding day! It’s not anonymous, but still a note about being beautiful and it was a nice surprise for Kim!"

Stacie said, "I have my own blog "No Weapon Formed Against Me Shall Prosper". I started this blog after losing 186 lbs over the course of three years the old fashioned way–changing my eating habits for a lifestyle change and exercise. I was recognized by PEOPLE magazine in January and on the TODAY show. After this recognition, I had a lot of people contacting me regarding tips and advice on how I maintain my weight loss, so I started a blog as a central location for folks to go.   I think the Operation Beautiful project is wonderful! I love it! I posted my first note today in a bathroom at the Pita Pit near the University Of Kansas. I plan on posting lots more!"

Samantha sent in this note:

Caroline wrote, "I’ve been on the lookout for notes like these in my area and have yet to find that, so some friends and I decided to change that. Today we went into Hollister, a store we feel pushes that impossible body image and posted these in the dressing rooms. We plan to place them anywhere we can later."

Darcy FOUND an Operation Beautiful note!  She said, "Someone printed this sign on a window in a hallway at the University of Calgary campus. I smile every time I pass it!"

Emily wrote, "This is my first Operation Beautiful note to put up. I put this in a fitting room at a Burke’s Outlet store in West Monroe, LA, near the plus sized junior section.  I know that so many girls (including myself) struggle with feeling like they have to fit into really small clothes to be beautiful, so I figured I should let all the curvy girls out there know that they are beautiful just they way they are!"

Maddy wrote, "I put this on the cover of a magazine at the check-out line at Publix! I hope it put a smile on peoples’ faces!"

I’m afraid I don’t care for the confidence phrase. It tells me I’m *not* beautiful.

How? Being confident is what make women beautiful and sexy. Confidence and beauty go hand and hand. By putting up post-it notes we are raising their confidence in themselves thus making them feel beautiful.

Thank you. This is a wonderful idea. I saw a post-it today in the Wolfchase mall in Cordova, Mississippi and I felt so beautiful and I felt a lot better about myself while trying clothes on and I have trouble feeling that way when shopping, so thank you! Im going to start doing this!
