Amber is doing a personal challenge where she posts 1 Operation Beautiful note everyday for a month – how lovely!
Marcha, who lives in the Netherlands, wrote in to say, “I like to post notes everywhere, but recently I also started to write little messages on euro bills. These notes will eventually be read by lots of people all over Europe!”
The editor of Operation Beautiful, Caitlin, posted this note yesterday:
Holly said, “I did ballet for 10 years, and suffered from extremely low self esteem. I’ve always been small, but ever since I was in 4th grade, I’ve been badgered with constant comments by people proclaiming that I must have an eating disorder, or that I look sick because I’m thin. It got so bad, that I tried to kill myself. I stopped myself, and realized half-way through that I deserve to live, and that I wasn’t ready to die yet. Ever since then, I’ve tried my best to sincerely compliment people, and to let them know that they’re beautiful, no matter what anyone says. I don’t want anyone to feel like I felt. The second I read about Operation Beautiful, I sat down and wrote out about 20, and started posting them immediately. Operation Beautiful is such an amazing idea, and I am so grateful to have another outlet to reach people.
Aleee wrote, “I wrote these most of these notes before I had even heard of Operation Beautiful – some of them aren’t directly related, but all of them are designed to make someone smile, to improve their day little bit more. I’m planning on slipping them into library books. Hopefully they will be circled around, making many more people happy. On the other hand, the idea of someone holding onto these notes and cherishing them is great, too.”
Caitlin wrote, “I just wanted to share that I posted my first OB note today!! I have been following the cause since the beginning, but really felt inspired today when I went to the dentist’s office. Having suffered an abscessed tooth and a terrible infection last month, I know you don’t always feel great walking out of those appointments! Now that I am all patched up, I went in for a cleaning today and posted this note. The office has over 1,000 patients so I hope this makes a lot of women’s (and men’s – it’s a unisex bathroom) day!”
Kristen wrote, “I was traveling this weekend and picked up a copy of Women’s Health for the trip. I wanted to read the interview with Christina Applegate (a good read by the way). I always find it discouraging that a "Health" magazine is so concerned that we lose those extra 5, 10, or 15 pounds or that we get a flat belly. So, once I was done with it, I stuck one note on the first page of the "how to look great in your jeans" story and another on the cover and then left it in the seat pocket in front of me for someone else to find.”
If you love Operation Beautiful and want to participate, post a note, take a picture, and e-mail it to Caitlin at seebriderun@gmail.com. SPREAD THE LOVE!
