Friday Notes – November 20, 2009

Kate wrote, “Several days ago, I decided I was going to launch Operation Beautiful at my school. I had a package of orange post-its and a Sharpie. My original intention was to put one post in note in each of the four bathrooms in
my high-school, which I did. However, I decided afterwards that it wasn’t really enough. I spent the rest of my morning before class started, my entire lunch hour, and most of my spare time putting up inspiring notes.  Though I didn’t count, I’d hazard a guess of saying I put up at least 65 bright orange post-its that day, and I even managed to recruit a helper!  :) We stuck those notes everywhere.   A couple of times, I was stopped by people in the hallway as I furiously scribbled on my notes and stuck them to doors. They often said things like "Why are you doing this?" and my response was "I want to make the world a better place."  My only regret is that I didn’t manage to do this slightly more anonymously.

Courtney says, “I was at a Superchick concert on November 6, and I had bought the VIP passes. I was pretty excited to get a picture with Superchick, so I put "You are so beautiful!" on my hand. That way, if anyone asks me why I’m holding up my hand in the picture, I can tell them they’re beautiful! What’s life if you can’t pass the love around?”

Tanya wrote, “I have attached a photo taken at a recent scrapbooking camp.  I posted a single note on the bathroom mirror in each house plus the bathroom in the main scrapbooking room.  I also left post-it pads and pens at each station for a social experiment to see what would happen…..it was lovely and I found myself wanting to go to the bathroom just to see what else had been left on the mirror.  It didn’t take long for people to catch on and write a positive note and stick it on….!  By the end of the weekend, there were notes on the toilet, window sill, mirror, soap dispenser, door and paper towel dispenser – it was gorgeous!”
