Carolyn wrote, “I always keep a pen and post-its in my purse. I left one in a Wendy’s bathroom and one in a bathroom at a mall in South Bend.”

Corinne wrote, “About two months ago I found sticky notes on the bathroom mirrors and walls at my high school. I felt touched and decided to check out Operations Beautiful. I was so inspired. I watched the videos and cried.  Then, I did some notes of my own!  I posted notes on mirrors, a hand drier, a bathroom door and even a white board and computer. I even got my friends AJ and Liz to do it too!”

Robin wrote, “I totally got warm fuzzies today when I did this for the first time today at work.”

Leah wrote, “I have self esteem problems myself but after reading the stories I thought "hey, I may not be perfect but who is?" That’s when I decided to spread the word about the site. I got at least 100 notecards and wrote little notes on them such as "You’re beautiful" and "The scale doesn’t measure your self worth". Today I took them to school and put them all over the girl’s bathroom; on the mirrors, in the stalls, on the walls, by the sink. I still had some left over so I stuck a few in random lockers and in my classes. Word got around fast, even the guys new about it. People figured it was from the debate team last Friday. I didn’t say anything, just listened for peoples’ reactions. In 7th hour, I told my teacher it was me and she agreed to help. She gave me construction paper and post-it notes and I spent all of that hour going down the halls. After school, everyone realized that it wasn’t the debate team and everyone wanted to figure out who the mystery poster was!”

Diana wrote, “My son Marcus helped me put these out at the store the other day. He thinks it is a great idea, and so do I!”

Kristen wrote, “Every girl should know that they are beautiful. Race, weight, appearance. None of that matters. You are beautiful no matter what anybody says about or what they think about you. Never give somebody else the satisfaction of getting you down by believing that you’re ugly, fat, or anything else that seems hurtful.      Operation Beautiful has changed many lives. Something as simple as a post-it on a bathroom mirror could mean a whole lot to a girl struggling to find herself in this messed up crazy world. I know it has helped me discover that I may be different but it only makes me prouder of who I am and who I am becoming. Sure I may not be the skinniest girl in the world or the most popular, but I know that at the end of the day there are people who love me enough to tell me that I am beautiful even if it’s a stranger posting it on a note on the bathroom mirror.  Telling somebody that they are beautiful, that they do matter can save them from making one of the biggest mistakes of their lives.  Believing that you are beautiful can help you succeed. Don’t ever believe that you are not beautiful because in one way or another, you are.      Don’t ever let somebody make you feel inferior. Don’t ever doubt yourself. Don’t ever give up. Dream big. Reach for the stars. Because in the end it doesn’t matter how people look at you, but how you look at yourself.”

I’m a leader of a small group of young girls in our church and decided to base a Bible study off of the "Operation Beautiful" theme. So this morning we did a 2 hour Bible study and Operation Beautiful "secret mission" at our church. Each of the girls now have an Operation Beautiful "kit" that they can take with them everywhere they go to spread the love and encouragement that just a small note gives to other girls. I thank you for the "mission" and drive that you put on my heart!”

Claire wrote, “I’m a senior at Evergreen Valley High School in San Jose, CA. As a member of the leadership class, we ran a fundraiser this week called "Hearts for Haiti" where people could buy a heart for a dollar and personalize it with Valentine’s messages. After making some for my friends, I decided to buy 6 more and write Operation Beautiful messages on them, so everyone could feel loved and beautiful, not just the people with their names on hearts. A lot of people commented to me that they were fun and encouraging to see, even though they didn’t know I did them!”

Michael wrote, “ I put a few notes on the door of the girls that live across from me in my resident hall. I hope they enjoy it!  I love doing this because I feel like I will make their day!”

Julie wrote, “I was feeling super bummed about having to pull out of the Disney Princess Half due to injury, so I made this the desktop background on my laptop to remind me that there will be other races and I will run again!”

Did you post this note?  Stephanie wrote, “I was having a really awful day. I am trying to stop wearing makeup, and people have been making comments about it, as in, “Why don’t you ever wear makeup anymore? Are you sick? Are you okay?” I respond, “This is my natural face, I’m trying to show my true beauty!” Anyway, I was having a really awful day, feeling down, and when I went into the bathroom in the library at UNC Charlotte, I saw this post it note and it made my whole day better.  It helped me to readjust my thoughts in a more positive light and continue to see myself as beautiful despite all the negative feedback from society! : ) I am beautiful with or without makeup, and I wish i could thank the woman who wrote this.”

Sammi wrote, “I came across your site randomly one day and was truly inspired! I happen to find this site the day before I went on a mini-vacation and made it a point to put up some notes around at the places I went. It was fun and kind of thrilling!”

Lucie wrote, “A couple of weekends ago, I went on a road trip with my girlfriends from UF to visit my boyfriend in Raleigh, NC. While visiting his campus at NC State, I took a little bathroom break at the library and found a note on the mirror that said "You are beautiful" with this website written underneath it.  I have had the worst relationship with my body when I was a teenager. I gained a lot of weight when I first went abroad and then started an eating disorder with binge and strictly restricting my calorie intake.    I’m finally on the road to recovery and I’m striving to find peace with my body. I am now a vegetarian, a runner, and I even started yoga a couple of months ago. I still binge once in a while but I’m trying to do better and I believe that, even though the recovery is long, I will get to where I want to be.  Operation Beautiful is an amazing example and I’ve been following the blog ever since I found that note in Raleigh. I’ve been sticking post it notes on my roommate’s doors or books and I know it made their day. This is an amazing movement, and I hope that many women across the USA will be touched by those notes and start believing in themselves and take time each day for their health.”

Mary Jo wrote, “I work at the Middle School in our town and I had left my room for lunch.  When I returned, there was a note on my desk which said “You are Beautiful; believe it” with the Operation Beautiful web site address at the bottom.  I had no idea what is was all about so I checked it out. I was glad to see this was a site to help girls and ladies alike inspire each other with one of the hardest issues we have now a days:  knowing that each one of us is BEAUTIFUL!!!!  What a simple thing to do to brighten someone’s day.  I am going to start leaving notes for BEAUTIFUL girls and ladies at school and in our community who need a pick me up.  This is a simple way for us to show support to others!!”

Many of the notes and stories have made me cry, and I’m not ashamed to admit that, because I think this must be a common effect amongst us emotional girls! I had a lot of fun making my own post-its, and the first one I stuck on the back of a toilet door made me feel SO good – I walked away and actually walked taller, and felt more beautiful and feminine than I have in many years.  It’s 6 am and I’ve been up all night creating these! I decorated an envelope, and inside a lovely card, which has a photo of a beach on the front. I’m going to leave it on a bench for someone to discover and open.”

Rachel wrote, “I started making my first notes yesterday and put them all around my local mall. I also placed them around the movie theatre and on the faculty’s cleaning carts! It makes me feel all yummy inside!”

Today, while browsing through my Facebook newsfeed, I saw a friend from high school had posted something about operationbeautiful.com and a note she had posted at her college. My jaw dropped to the floor! I thought it was really neat that I was already following the site when it started, and it’s finally made it’s way out to little ol’ Iowa!”

Katie wrote, “I try to think up new ideas and ways to bring happiness to people. For my latest project (I got this idea online), I scanned a page of the dictionary with the word "gorgeous" on it and wrote "I think that you are" with an arrow pointing to the word, which was circled. I decorated the pages and put them in an envelope, along with an Operation Beautiful post it note. I closed the envelope, put a smiley sticker on the back, and wrote "for you (yes, you)" on the outside. So far, I have left one in Pizza Hut, and cannot wait to leave them in other locations for people to find!”

Jamie wrote, “I randomly came upon Operation Beautiful via Mystery Google. The previous user had said, "YOU’RE YOU! And that’s why I love you! Spread love and beauty, operationbeautiful.com." I smiled and immediately went to the website. After reading and seeing all these beautiful women posting these heartwarming messages around town, I burst into tears. It had truly made my day!  I repaid the favor by going onto Formspring. I found a girl named Michelle, who was down after being dumped, and left her this message:

Rafel from the United Arab Emigrates wrote, “I met a great and lovely friend through the internet. She’s smart, kind and beautiful! But like so many other girls and women – including me – she doesn’t think she is beautiful, and she doesn’t believe it when she is told that. I found this site on the Facebook event ‘Tell Her She’s Beautiful’ and I loved the idea, so I decided to do what I am able to do to prove to my friend -who is as close as a sister to me, even if we have never met- and my other female friends that they are beautiful. I wrote on a paper, scanned it, uploaded the picture on my Facebook profile and tagged all my female friends.  Because they are beautiful! Inside and out.”

Katie from Denver wrote, “I found this note that my roommate had left for me. She had taped in over my computer screen. I was blown away by the card and the words, but she also left my internet browser open to the Operation Beautiful website. All I can say is that I’ve never felt more love before. For myself, for her, for every single woman that I’ve seen on this site. I now leave post-its and index cards in college bathrooms, at my friend’s houses, anywhere there’s a woman who needs to know she’s amazing. Thank you so much for reminding me that it’s our job to build each other up!”

Courtney wrote, “I have never had a boyfriend or even been on a date and it gets to be hard… I know I’m not the prettiest or skinniest girl and I always figured if I were skinnier, prettier, or perhaps skankier, someone would ask me out.  Today, I found a bunch of notes posted in a bathroom on campus from Operation Beautiful.  They all made me smile and made remember what I constantly tell others. I am BEAUTIFUL no matter what!!! THANK YOU!!!!! I’m going to start carrying notes with me so that I can leave one when I feel inspired.”

Last month, the Lululemon store at Legacy place in Dedham, Massachusetts created an awesome Operation Beautiful window display. Melyssa, the Key Leader of the store, wrote, “We decorated our main window Operation Beautiful-style and stuck post it notes with positive messages all over the store – every mirror, every dressing room, on mannequins, in the bathroom mirrors, in our team’s cubbies, you name it!   I have 4 stations set up around the store with a framed description of Operation Beautiful and with markers/post-it notes so that people can fill out notes to themselves. We are asking guests to stick their notes in the window themselves after they write them down!”

Kirsten wrote, “I discovered this site through tumblr. Someone posted a picture of this post-it note. Just reading through people’s notes on Operation Beautiful I was so inspiring. Immediately, I started writing positive messages on post-it notes. Thank you Operation Beautiful! This has helped me gain confidence and inspired me to help change other people’s lives!”

Kate wrote, “Even the super skinny have body issues. I have always been very thin no matter what or how much I eat, and in middle school and high school girls used to bring me down by constantly asking me straight up if I was anorexic. The answer was no, and I have never in my life had an eating disorder. However, their words still hurt.  Regardless of who the main target of Operation Beautiful is, it is very inspiring. Tomorrow when I am at my college campus I will post notes around to let other women know they are beautiful just the way they are.”

We were having such an amazing run, and then we came upon a bench with chalk and a note that said, “grab a piece of chalk and write something positive.” Well I of course immediately had Operation Beautiful pop in to my head and decided to leave a message for all of those who were to pass!  I tried to strike a yoga pose but had trouble finding my focus on an instant’s notice!”

Melissa wrote, “I had discovered GivesMeHope through another website, and through GMH had discovered Operation Beautiful. I decided to make signs so I could put them up in my bathroom on my flight back to Australia and anywhere else I could get them up without being seen. I felt the perfect place would be in the bathroom of the plane! I could just imagine how many people would see that sign on a 13 hour journey! So I made one up and stuck it on the bathroom mirror about halfway through the flight.  Towards the end of the flight I went to the bathroom again only to find the sign had been removed. I can only hope another woman (or man) found it so inspiring they had to have it."

Joey wrote, “A friend of mine has been having a rough time at work for a while now so I waited until after she left and put this on her computer… she will be surprised in the morning!”

Courtney wrote, “I found this note on a bathroom door at a Barnes and Noble in Raleigh, North Carolina. I loved it!”  The note reads: “Hello gorgeous! Wow, how could you ever compare yourself to someone else?  You’re perfect as you are. www.OperationBeautiful.com”

Hannah wrote, “I heard about Operation Beautiful at Young Women Writing for (a) Change this past summer.  I started carrying post-it notes and a pen with me everywhere I went.  My family and I went on a road trip to Canada.  Since we live in Ohio, it was a bit of a trek, and there was a lot of rest stops, with plenty of opportunities to post beauty in public places.  Mostly, I did restrooms. One stop, I did my normal stuff.  One "You are beautiful!" post-it in the stall, one on the mirror.  I left the restroom.  My mother came in later, and told me the following story:  Two women walked into the restroom.  One woman was complaining to her friend about another person.  They went into their stalls and then the woman’s attitude changed entirely. She said, “Hey!  There’s a sign in here.  A post it note.  It says ‘you are beautiful’.  Do you have one like that in your stall?"   I had forgotten how wonderful it feels to be doing something abnormal, something that will bring a smile, or make someone’s day.”

Emma from Liverpool, United Kingdom wrote, “I finally bucked up the courage to stick some posters I made around school, in order to help the girls at school feel beautiful and to help them feel happier!”

Jenna wrote, “I think that this Operation Beautiful is well… truly beautiful. Our English teacher at Sayre High School wants us to make a difference in people’s life and someone has been posting little notes all around our school bathrooms so I figured I’d see what it was. These notes made my day ten times better and I’m so glad that people care enough to do this. I’m pushed to do it now too. Its nice to make a difference in someone’s life.”

Diana Sng from Singapore wrote, “I had been really inspired by the movement of sharing thoughts and positivity via Post-Its lately.  When I came across your site, I started posting up a a picture or two and tagged my girlfriends on Facebook.  I had fun. And it made me smile!”

Erika from University of West Georgia wrote, “I was walking to my class after the most horrible week ever. A stranger walking in the opposite direction stopped me, handed me a scrap of paper, and continued walking. I opened the paper and it said "I think you’re beautiful. Pass this to the next beautiful person you see." It easily made my day, but it got better when I stopped someone walking out of their classroom and gave them the paper. The look on their face when they read it… that was something I’ll never forget.  So often, people feel alone, especially on a college campus, away from their family and old friends. Sometimes, they don’t fit in well, and it wears at them day after day. If one little scrap of paper saying something as simple as "You’re beautiful" can light up someone’s day, why shouldn’t we try it? It took a little time out of my day to give that paper to someone and a little courage to approach a stranger, but I was in no way inconvenienced. To everyone who receives a note, please pass it on. You never know how much it will mean to someone.”

Sam from Vero Beach wrote, “I found Operation Beautiful and was completely touched by the message. I immediately started collecting all the post-it notes I had at home, and wrote a message for every mirror at Indian River State College. Some of the High School students who are dual enrolled there (like myself) took it upon themselves to join me, and spread the message to our high school. The girls kept the notes for themselves, and were whispering about it all day! It made me smile so much I didn’t think I could stop Keep on being beautiful! The note reads: “Leonardo Davinci couldn’t paint a prettier picture!”

Suzanne wrote, “I work for McCallum Place, an eating disorder treatment center in St. Louis, Missouri. This week, as part of NEDAwareness Week, our Aftercare Group gave back to current patients in treatment by honoring the mission of Operation Beautiful: they covered up patients’ bathroom mirrors with positive messages of beauty. It’s so wonderful to help spread the power of positivity!”
